American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) American Fitness Index™
Ryan and two21 served as communications counsel for the ACSM American Fitness Index™ (AFI), a program of the American College of Sports Medicine, since its inception in 2008 through 2013. This program centers on an annual data report that evaluates and ranks the 50 largest metropolitan areas in the U.S. with regards to health and community fitness. two21 was responsible for the communications strategy and execution of all public relations and marketing tactics.
Prior to forming two21, Ryan prepared a white paper, A Practical Solution to Reducing Medication-Related Problems in Seniors, for Indianapolis-based Arcadia Healthcare and its DailyMed pharmacy solution. The white paper has been used to inform elected officials and medical program managers how DailyMed makes it easier to comply with prescriptions, better manage health conditions improve patient outcomes and avoid the dangers of medication mismanagement.
Health by Design
Since its creation in August of 2006, the Health by Design (HbD) coalition has played a leading role in the movement to support healthy, active living and environmental protection in Central Indiana and beyond. In 2009, Ryan provided copywriting and editing services for a report outlining the coalition’s accomplishments to date. The report explains the importance of HbD’s work, what had been accomplished, where the coalition is headed and how individuals and organizations can assist in building a healthier community. The report is available for download on HbD’s website and is used as informational collateral when HbD is exhibiting or partnering on various events and programs in Central Indiana.
From 2009 to 2012, Ryan was a regular blogger for IndyHub and had a series of posts titled The Great Green Hope. Each post was related to an environmental issue, event or observation. Ryan has also prepared a few interview posts there as well, sharing the perspectives of green leaders in Indianapolis.
As a freelance writer, Ryan has been an occasional contributor to Indiana Living Green, a sustainable lifestyle magazine. Ryan’s articles are usually related to construction and home maintenance. Recently, he wrote a piece about confined animal feeding operations (CAFOs) for the upcoming March/April 2011 issue.
Ryan has also written advertising supplements and editorial copy for Environmental Design + Construction magazine.
Portland Cement Association
two21 worked on a variety of projects for the Portland Cement Association (PCA) related to the organization’s sustainability and promotional efforts. two21 prepared e-newsletter copy, case studies, online toolkits, fact sheets, copy editing and miscellaneous copywriting and editing projects.
